Corinna Wood is the director of Red Moon Herbs, making herbal medicines from fresh, local plants, with a focus on women's health, since 1994. A gifted teacher and powerful visionary, Corinna has opened the hearts of thousands to the wisdom of the plants and their own bodies.
Corinna's background includes an extensive apprenticeship with Susun Weed in 1993 as well as a B.S. in Biology. Corinna is certified as an herbalist, a fertility awareness teacher, and also in permaculture design. Corinna Wood is the Director of the Southeast Women’s Herbal Conference, an annual fall conference in Black Mountain, NC that inspires and nourishes women. She is also on the faculty of the Appalachia School of Holistic Herbalism.
Drawn to the wild plants from an early age, Corinna Wood turned away from the usual focus in today’s herbal world, of the rare, exotic, or endangered plants to study the powerful benefits available from the wild plants that are abundant and local, many of which are considered “weeds.”
In 1993, after receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in health and agriculture, with a focus on botany, biology, and nutrition, Corinna apprenticed with world renowned herbalist Susun Weed. Beginning with Susun’s standard six-week apprenticeship, Corinna ended up living and working at Susun’s side for nine months.
Thanks to her apprenticeship with Susun Weed, Corinna found not only her passion, but also a deep understanding of the web that includes the sciences as well as life experience creating a foundation of a truly wholistic approach to living. Numerous health issues she had struggled with–including cervical dysplasia, ammerorhea, and Lyme’s Disease–began to heal through herbal medicine and deeply nourishing life practices.
From 2001 to 2007, Red Moon Herbs increased in size nearly fourfold, and became renowned throughout the region and beyond for the high level of quality and integrity of their medicines. In 2005, Corinna started the Southeast Women’s Herbal Conference, a very popular annual conference in the Fall. Corinna also continues to teach herbal medicine and women’s health, including the Wise Woman Fundamentals of Herbalism Week-long Immersions.
A weekend for women to learn, connect, and deepen into the Wise Woman Tradition....earth-based healing, local plants, & deep nourishment. Next Southeast Women's Herbal Conference is October 14-16, 2011.

Hi Jackie, saw your comment above. I've been looking into faith-based bulimia treatment (here for example: http://www.renewalchristiancare.com/christian-bulimia-treatment/) and holistic approaches as well. I've all but been diagnosed with ED, so its always nice to hear from others who find issues with their bodies and try to find a peaceful, non-invasive methods to work on them. I think a lot of it is brain chemistry too.

I find myself angry. Angry because the rampant self-hatred women place upon themselves (or is place on them) by body image is so wide-spread and insidious in this culture!
I suffered from a severe case of bulimia for almost 18 years...and am still recovering my brain chemistry.
While learning to eat fats and nourish ourselves is an important part...learning to love ourselves is the thing on which it is all based. THAT is what I wish to share and teach in the world!
