I was excited to read about comfrey for incontinence in your Menopausal Years book. There a two very different types of incontinence. One is stress, where a woman coughs or sneezes and voids a small amount of urine. The other is urge, where a woman has an intense urge to urinate (often frequently) and can often not make it to the bathroom, voiding a lot. There are not too many choices for urge incontinence, mainly drugs that also suppress acetycholine. Most women go into nursing homes because of urge incontinence! It is VERY debilitating.
Is comfrey good to try for urge incontinence? Or should I use a nervine herb? I am currently trying skullcap tincture drops daily. I have also read buchu is good for irritable bladder. What is the best herbal solution and at what amounts? If I don't get this under control, I am considering bladder botox injections. Please address this as it is a big underground secret problem for many women.
Thank you.
blessings,
Kim
