Hi Susun,
I've been listening to you on WDST Round Table for a while, and I am always impressed with what you have to say. It is because of what you said on one of these shows, that I have been taking infusions of nettle, oat straw, and red clover on a daily basis. I'm 51 years old, have been in full menopause for over a year now, and have never had a hot flash or night sweat. I believe this infusion has had a great deal to do with it.
But after reading some of the information on your website, I have a question about whether I'm actually making the infusions properly. Is it ok to mix these 3 herbs into one infusion? I used to make them separately, but I've been combining them for a couple years now, and I just hope I haven't been reducing the efficacy by doing this! Also, is it acceptable to make them in a larger container than just one quart?
I've been making it in a large Pyrex bowl that holds 2 quarts, and covering with a tight fitting lid. I then pour into a 2 quart jar and store in the fridge. This gives me enough to drink for a few days before I have to make more.
Thank you so much, I am so glad you are out there!
Hi,
Susun believes that when you combine the different herbs, you are reducing the efficency of the infusions. Isn't that so often the case with many other things? Adding too much just ends up making the waters muddy, so to speak. Of course, you have not been harming yourself by adding oatstraw and nettles together, but if you are trying to approach infusions as a way to really build up your health, I would suggest using only one herb at a time. Give your body the ability to absorb and appreciate them one at a time. This is the way to truly develop an intuitive relationship with the herbs, which goes a long way in our well-being. I rotate them from day to day - that way I get all within a week, no problem.
As for making them in larger containers, not a problem. You just need to make sure that you are using the proper ratio of having one ounce of herb by weight to one quart of water. So just make sure you are putting in two ounces in your container and you are doing great. :)
Just let us know if you need any further assistance.
blessings,
Kim
