I just wanted to comment on UTIs and cystitis. The first thing to do when you feel a twinge of pain when you go to the bathroom is to ask yourself (as I do), "Have I been drinking enough water?" Start drinking and get a quart down quickly! (unless you have heart or kidney disease) Usually this will do the trick, unless it's gone too far. Drinking 2 quarts of water or teas (non caffeinated) daily will prevent most UTIs.

I also very much agree with what was said about cleansing the area too much. Some soaps aggravate the problem. Also, when my kids were little, they got UTIs from bubble bath, until I realized what it was from.
