Hello,
I wanted to know if you have any information or if Susun has talked at any length on medical insurance. Nearly all medical insurances I know of do not allow any application of money toward preventative medicine let alone herbalism or alternative medicines. With the new attempts to force individuals to own medical insurance, are there any that you know of that do in fact allow for herbal medicine or are we back in the dark ages being forced to pay for the medicine as approved by the male run medical industry? Do you have recommendations on the topic?
Thank you,
Kristen
Of course, in regards to preventative medicine, it doesn’t matter what the insurance company does … basically I would say that is the same as in the past – at least I never recall any insurance companies that embraced herbal medicine. At least at this point in our history, they aren’t breaking down our doors and taking away our herbs or regulating what we do in our kitchen; part of the reason, Susun is very much against licensing for herbalists. Yes, we are basically being forced by the government to purchase insurance or pay a fine but even if I have a check-up and they tell me that I have high cholesterol and need to take medicine, doesn’t mean I have to.
Stay simple, grow your herbs or harvest the wild bounty outside your door – learn the plants that grow in your area – we all have access to a wonderful supply of medicine … make your tinctures, drink your infusions. Mainstream medicine has its place – Susun is not necessarily against it – as she has said before, if you are in a car accident, you want the hospital. It’s just afterwards that you start using your infusions, tinctures, story medicine, etc. to help your recovery along.
blessings,
Kim
