Dear Susun Weed,
A friend has asked me to search for yellow root for her and I am lost at where to look for it.I have looked for health food stores that would carry it but to no avail.I know it grows in swamp areas and native americans know of its use.Her sister is soy intolerance and is looking for some other herbs and we haven't been able to find.
I live in Ulster Park and could use your help.
Thank you for listening to me,
Barbara
Hello Barbara,
We couldn't really point you to any place specific... Yellow root can mean different things -- I imagine you are talking about Xanthorhiza simplicissima?
Along stream banks and shady areas are typical places to look... You need to be sure that you can ID plants if you are out harvesting -- if you don't know how, you'll really want to attend live workshops and see them in person...
Susun has finished up her workshops for the year unfortunately, although she would still be available for her day long workshops -- this is where she can come to you or you can come to her -- it is very reasonable if you can perhaps get some friends together and you all participate. http://www.herbalmedicinehealing.com/store/item_view.php?id=1000222&item=your-day-with-susun-weed
Another option would be to post at Susun's online forum: www.healingwiseforum.com
There are posters from all around, so someone may have some to trade and/or sell as well...
blessings,
Kim
