My name is Andrew and I was reading some information on your site about the burdock root and echinacea tea.
I was wondering if you knew any websites to but some of this to make the tea because I was looking and it looks like you can buy it many different forms. If you could help me I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank You,
Andrew
Hello Andrew,
Not sure exactly what you were looking at but almost always Susun is using burdock root as an infusion, cooking with it or using a tincture. The echinacea is most often in a tincture form. Tinctures can be purchased at local health/herbs stores or made at home. With burdock and echinacea, the roots are used, so they can be dried -- again these are usually at the same stores. When Susun makes echinacea tincture, she will take the remaining plant material once it is strained, add boiling water to it and then it is a tincture tea. She leaves the covered mason jar with this tincture tea on the kitchen counter and takes a drink of it every day to help with flu/cold prevention.
Here is a link to some tincture being made -- it is with elderberries but it gives you an idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFkQ39rOB3o
You can also search Susun's channel for lots of other videos including talks on echinacea.
Infusions are teas that have a much higher ratio of herb to water and longer steeping times. These must be made at home with dried herb. I would recommend reading over Susun's site here: http://www.nourishingherbalinfusions.com/
Some online sources we recommend would be Mountain Rose Herbs and Red Moon Herbs. Susun offers many ways to learn more, you can read over her articles, check out the forum .... a nice place to start is Susun's free online course, Nourishing Herbal Infusions: Drink Your Way to Health, the Wise Woman Way.
