Susun,
I was drinking Nettle (root) infusion for hip pain. My daughter said I should be drinking Nettle Leaf instead, but I can't stand the taste of the leaf, it makes me sick to my stomach. I have tried mixing it with many different things, but nothing helps. If I drink the root instead of the leaf will it still help my hip pain?
Hello,
Nettle root infusion is used for specific uses but is not to be confused with nettle leaf which is overall deeply nourishing and can be used freely and for long term. In Susun's book, Healing Wise, she recommends the root mainly for a urinary strengthener, immune system/lymphatic strengthener, kidney stones, prostate issues, chronic cystitis, etc. A dose of dried nettle root infusion is only 4-8 ounces daily as opposed to the leaf of which most of us drink a quart or more...
For joint aches, rheumatism, etc. Susun recommends nettle leaf infusions. You can try using it as a base for a smoothie or look at it as more of a broth - don't sweeten, instead try salt, miso, tamari to flavor - use as a soup base ... also seems best either ice cold or as a hot beverage, most don't like it at a room temperature.

Scherine,
Nettle leaf infusions. There are other remedies as well in the chapter on pcos in Susuns book Down There: Sexual and Reproductive Health the Wise Woman Way:

Hi, I am trying to understand whether nettle leaf or nettle root is better for pcos with elevated estrogen? The information I have found online seems contradictory. Thanks :)
