Hello Susun,
I'm venturing forth into to new territory "tonic making" and I need help! I want to make a tonic (for myself) consisting of herbs considered beneficial for kidney health. I have chosen the following herbs and need to know if any of these herbs would not fair well under boiling or glycerin preparation, or if any of these herbs would not be advisable for kidney health used in this manner. I have searched and searched and can't locate an any list of herbs that shouldn't be heated to boiling point!
Horsetail, Couch grass, Corn silk, Ginger, Dandelion, Marshmallow, parsley, barberry, nettle, and Juniper. I have also considered adding some cayenne to the mix. I would greatly appreciate any advise you can offer!
Thank you very much for your time and assistance!
Hello,
Susun Weed very much advocates the use of herbs as simples, one herb at a time…of those herbs listed below, the dandelion and corn silk might each be used as water based infusions, drunk freely for a limited time.
Susun rarely if ever uses or advises use of stimulating herbs such as cayenne and ginger, both can irritate the system, especially the pepper. Nourishing herbs, in the form of nourishing herbal infusions, are wonderfully gentle and supportive of our bodies, allowing the body to do its own natural cleansing… both the corn silk and the dandelion are easily available, inexpensive, and very effective. Hope this helps.
Love,
Justine
