Hello,
I have just been diagnosed with acute iron deficiency anemia and my doctor wants me to take Ferrous Sulfate three times a day; I have a very sensitive GI system and am reluctant to do this because of the side effects of GI upset and constipation. I have obatined 2 remedies from my local health food store: Floradix-Floravital Iron+Herbs-dose=2 tsp and New Chapter Organics-Every Woman's Iron Support-1 tablet. I have found these easy to take and have had no problems so far. I have doubled up on the recommended doses as I am really low on iron. (after consultation with the health food store)
Do you have any other suggestions? Remedies? diet?(needs to be soft or pureed).I realize that this did not occur overnight and will have to be cured the same way.
I should tell you that I have asthma, arthritis, diabetes and 5 yr cancer of tongue survivor. The cancer treatments included radical surgery, radiation, hyperbaric oxygen treatments for the post radiation osteonecrosis of the jawbone and most recently, a hospital acquired pneumonia with massive IV antibiotics (July 09).
Looking forward to your response. Thanks.
Hi,
Regular use of nourishing herbal infusion of nettles leaf would be very helpful to restore your health and vitality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ezLZzg2Vgw
Stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) builds energy, strengthens the adrenals, and is said to restore youthful flexibility to blood vessels. A cup of nettle infusion contains 500 milligrams of calcium plus generous amounts of bone-building magnesium, potassium, silicon, boron, and zinc. It is also an excellent source of vitamins A, D, E, and K. For flexible bones, a healthy heart, thick hair, beautiful skin, and lots of energy, make friends with sister stinging nettle. It may make you feel so good you'll jump up and exercise.
An infusion is a large amount of herb brewed for a long time. Typically, one ounce by weight (about a cup by volume) of dried herb is placed in a quart jar which is then filled to the top with boiling water, tightly lidded and allowed to steep for 4-10 hours. http://herbshealing.com/How_to_make_Infusions.htm
