Is calcium carbonate good for osteoporosis... since it's chalk...?
I've been taking your nettle formula for years and I'm thinking of supplementing the nettles with 600 mg of calcium carbonate a day. Is this a good idea? I am 79 years old.
I went to your website and couldn't find any information.
Thanks for your time.
Hello,
You are exactly right. And as Susun says, do you want your bones to be strong as chalk? Most likely not. We believe one needs to focus on having flexible bones. Susun does not take supplements and believes you can get all you need from your diet and herbal infusions - something that recent studies are proving. Do you know that one cup of your nettle infusion contains about 300 mg of calcium? You can also add a bit of horsetail to your nettle infusions to increase bone strength as well and increase healing from any fractures.
Continue with your infusions, maybe add horsetail and include good organic whole-milk yogurt and your bones should be very happy. Here is a link to one of Susun's articles on bone health: http://www.susunweed.com/Article_Bone_Health.htm
blessings,
Kim

hi stephanie!
that does sound really good.
the best herb tea/infusion combination i have ever made is:
1 pt red clover blossoms
1 pt nettle leaves
1 pt oatstraw
1 pt alfalfa leaves
1 pt raspberry leaves
1 pt chickweed
1/2 pt peppermint leaves
this combination is very nourishing and soothing. my kids love it and have been enjoying it since they were toddlers.
