Dear Susun Weed,
I came upon your website and I felt hopeful.
My sister has been diagnosed with DCIS.
I've been doing alot of research for her and I saw your site on Herbal Oils
for breast self message. I believe that her situation can be reversed. She
has 0 stage in cancer but yet her doctors just want to remove her entire
breast. I had ordered arborvitae organic oils for her. My question is does
she massage her breast with the pure oil directly or does she dilute the
arborvitae with olive oil? If she needs to dilute it with olive oil how many
drops does she put arborvitae with how much olive oil. Please help this is
her only hope before deciding to go with surgery.
Hello,
How wonderful that you are able to do research and be there for your sister.
Quickly, you would most definitely NOT want to massage pure essential oils onto your breast. I wouldn't put pure EO on me - they are extremely strong medicine and can be very caustic. Much caution must be used when dealing with EO's. As a matter of fact, Susun rarely uses them. The herbal oils that she discusses are where the actual plant material is infused into the oil over a period of time. This is much safer than using EOs and still contains the beneficial components that you need for healing.
Of course, the problem is, depending on where you are, winter may be setting in and fresh herbs hard to find and also, when making herbal oils one must let them sit, preferably for a six week period.
If you wish to use the essential oils you have on hand; here is Susun's advice in that regards:
"Use Caution: Test your sensitivity before using essential oils. Put a drop of the oil on the sensitive skin inside your elbow. If your skin gets red or mottled, itches or burns in the next 12 hours, be very cautious with essential oils and certainly don’t use them on your breasts. My cat’s neck fur fell out after I anointed her chin with three drops of essential oil to (successfully) rid her of fleas!
Essential oils of citrus, rosemary, lavender, marjoram, juniper, or clary sage—ten drops diluted in one ounce/30 ml of olive oil—have been used to increase circulation to the breasts, warm them, activate the immune system, and offer the healing benefits of their aromas as well."
If you are unable to make your own infused oils, you can usually find them at health food stores. We also have some online sources that make wonderful healing oils/salves as well such as Red Moon Herbs and Mountain Rose Herbs.
If you haven't checked out some of our other resources, you might want to look at Susun's website http://www.breasthealthcancerprevention.com/ which contains articles and excerpts from her book, Breast Cancer? Breast Health!.
I would also recommend checking out our forum - there are wonderful women from all over able to offer advice and support. You may even find someone close by who creates herbal breast salves, etc. There is a room specifically for cancer topics as well. If you wish to explore Susun's ideas deeper, she offers phone consultations, booked through our bookshop here: http://www.herbalmedicinehealing.com/store/store_results.asp?Category=3&SubCat=1034&Section=Consultations
Just let us know if you need any further assistance.
blessings,
Kim
