Dear Susun,
I have been an admirer of you and your teachings for several years. I would like to know how long do you dry fresh leaves, like comfrey, before making an infusion? I dried some for three days before using, was that long enough? Thank you so much for your teachings...
Hello,
A lot of factors go into the length of time for drying herbs such as the type, amount of humidity in your area and drying method. For many herbs, I find a couple of days sufficient - especially if warm and there is good air circulation. When those conditions aren't present, I've had things take several weeks to a month to fully dry. Comfrey leaves are big and "juicy" and I have a pretty good amount of moisture where I live so I find that they are not dry enough in three days.
You want them crispy and easy to crumble with your fingers, not limp. I've included some links to forum posts that discuss harvesting and drying of herbs.
Hope this helps!
Thanks,
Kim
