Dear Susun,
Thank you so much for all of the helpful information I have been gaining from your site. I plan to begin making infusions to help with hormonal imbalance, specifically a hormone related condition called lichens sclerosus. I have read of individuals having good success using red clover tea for this so I imagine your infusion would be even more powerful. I was wondering if when you refer to the seed method of making an infusion, is this the same red clover seed I use for sprouting? I think this would be the most economical way for me to try this.
I am breastfeeding my 13 month old. I believe that both the red clover and stinging nettle teas are safe for lactation, correct? Can I also give them directly to my children, aged 4 and 1? I currently use my nettle tea as a base for our morning green smoothie.
Thank you again. I look forward to making more exciting discoveries on your site.
Hello,
Glad to hear that you are finding useful information at our websites. Just being able to take some control of our health puts us on a path conducive to much healing.
As for the lichen sclerosus, yes red clover infusions often bring about much relief. You would not be using the seeds, these infusions are made with the flowering tops of the red clover: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kINxqaNW4HY.
These infusions are wonderful for pregnant/lactating women and help to bolster our health during those times when we need additional nutrients. They are also great to give to your children and are a wonderful alternative to sugary juices, etc. Many people, myself included, let our small children drink infusions right along with us. And a nice idea to use nettles as a base for your green smoothie!
In case you haven't come across it, I am also including a link to more information you may find useful in dealing with lichen sclerosus: http://www.wisewomantradition.com/healingwise/2007/11/lichen-sclerosi.html
Just let us know if you need any further assistance.
blessings,
Kim
