Dear Susan,
My sister is a practicing acupuncturist. She loves the "nettle tea" for sleeping and good calcium for her clients.
She has heard that one needs to be very careful to not recommend nettle tea to pregnant women.
Do you know if there are any counter-indications for Nettle tea and pregnancy???
thank you so much. I send my best,
Donna
Hello Donna,
People err on the side of extreme caution during pregnancy... and once in a while you find someone who also throws nettle into the avoid column...
All we can say is that Susun recommends nettle infusions (not teabags, tincture, capsules -- but infusions of 1 ounce of herb steeped in a quart of boiling water for a minimum of 4 hours) -- she recommends these infusions for those young, old, pregnant, lactating, menopausal, man, woman, child...
I've known so so many women who drank nettles freely during pregnancy, myself included that I can't imagine not taking in nettles' nourishing qualities, especially while pregnant.
But if someone takes it while worrying about it the whole time, then that would be contraindicated for them at at least...
blessings,
Kim
