Hi there!
Firstly, thank you, again, for all of your information and invaluable insight. I use your site so frequently. ....I recently had a pregnant woman email to ask if raw honey is ok for a pregnant woman to eat, as she has recently been alerted to listeria dangers from unpasteurized foods. In my internet searching, I don't seem to find honey on any lists of dangerous foods for listeria. In fact, I've found a few studies that suggest it might be helpful in combating this bacteria.
Do you have any thought or insight on this issue? I want to research and tell her advice that's true and founded and safe.
Thanks so very much for any thought.
Hello,
Raw honey is not on Susun's list of things to avoid during pregnancy. Nor have I heard of issues with raw honey and listeria. No doubt everyone errs extremely on the side of caution when it comes to pregnancy and with most herbs/foods it comes down to a personal decision. I have not come across any studies stating the danger of consuming raw honey and personally I find it beneficial.
