Consumption
by Shannon E. Hardie
We are a comsumptive society on large. People congregate around food, beverage and entertainment. Many people work to consume; technology, clothing and new products, for example. All facets of our society are not creative. We do not only think to create, but rather also tend to mechanically serve to consume.
Addiction is a need that is created in an individual do to consumtion of a particular 'thing'. The addictive creation of a need can be transformed into the need for something else. One could determine that the creation of a need is the creation of a vital force that outweighs a needlessness and can be transformed into a need for work or creation. This transformation enables addiction to be a good need of society. In this fashion addiction can be seen as fueling the economy, with consumers and hard workers.
Want can be a dangerous, desperate feel. Impatience in our convenient society makes want dangerous. Want, in security, requires a great deal of inner strength to fight internally to control want. Therapies to make one stronger internally to control want are a necessity.
Due to our custom of consumption in our society, and the susceptibility our societal members have in the creation of a need, I advocate that government monies be spent on addiction programs that aid in the creation of inner strength to ward off addiction.
