My girlfriend...has always held you in high regards. I've read through some of your articles and books you've written and enjoy your approach to herbalism. We had a friend from New Orleans stay with us for a few days. She was undergoing an herbal apprenticeship in Montana. She is given case studies, readings, workshops, and visits the herb farm where her teacher lives once a month. I am coming to a point in my life where I'm feeling ready to become and herbalist...do you offer any online classes, or apprenticeships similar to the one a described above? If so, please enlighten me! Many thanks...
Susun offers several ways to study with her. For long distance learning, she has correspondence courses. These are traditional in that communication with Susun is done via postal mail (you can write her anytime you wish) and also through scheduled talk time over the phone. These courses can be paid in full or through a payment plan and are self-paced. I would say the average is about one year but again, you work on it at your own pace. You can find descriptions and costs here:
There are also online courses that are offered through Susun's Wise Woman University. We have a number of mentors offering different courses and currently Susun teaches: Menopausal Allies; Your Healthy Vagina and Cervix; and Herbal First Aid. The lessons are in PDF format for downloading, there are pre-recorded webinars to access and lessons are submitted via computer. There is an online classroom forum for connecting with other students and with Susun as well.
For apprentices, there are several options for both live-in and live-out. This link will give you details on what to expect: http://www.susunweed.com/Weed_Wise_Apprentice.htm.
