i absolutely love your book wise woman herbal for the childbearing year. i'm in my first trimester - only 5 weeks. i wanted to ask you what you suggested for a cough in the chest. i've been drinking nettles. also, is it okay to have red raspberry leaves in the first trimester?

Red raspberry leaves aren't on Susun's list of plants to avoid during pregnancy. You can read up on Susun's article below. In Susun's book, she does have a recipe for some herbal cough syrups - page 132. You will find a list of possible herbs such as wild cherry.

Also, drinking mullein milk which will support lung health. Here is a great recipe of Susun's for Mullein Chai, but you can do without the spices and just have the mullein infusions with the milk...
